Thank you for joining me for this Teaching Art {with the help of Pinterest} series on my blog! If you’ve missed the first few posts, click over here to find them all in one place.
Every week I think I have a new favorite art project that I’ve done with my co-op kids. And then the next week always is a new favorite. These self-portraits turned out fabulously! I LOVE THEM.
We have been talking a lot about Van Gogh, we did his famous sunflowers, we did our own version of Starry Night, and this past week we did self-portraits. From what I’ve read from various sources, Van Gogh did more than 30 of these in his life time! So, because he did so many and we are learning about him, I felt this would be an awesome project for us to try!
These were very basic – no intricate instructions. But they turned out so well! I had them draw in pencil and then color in with colored pencils. I also told them to incorporate their name into the artwork in whatever way they wished! I just love how they turned out!
