Welcome back to the Teaching Art {with the help of Pinterest} series here on my blog! Click here if you want to catch up on all the lessons we’ve done so far at our co-op this semester!
I know I say this every week, but my kids in art class are just pure geniuses. Every week I think I have a new favorite project. 🙂
Supplies Needed: Paper + Chalk Pastels = that’s it!
This past week was no exception…I decided to try out Chalk Pastels for the first time! I have loved Tricia’s blog,  Hodge Podge for awhile now and her chalk pastel tutorials are perfect!! (Click on that link and there are more than 50 FREE pastel lessons listed! Find additional sets of tutorials for $4.99!)
What I love about these projects is that each child’s fall tree and leaves looked SO different, but they were all outstanding! All of the instructions are found on Tricia’s blog if you are interested in doing these projects! Here is the Fall Tree Silhouette lesson and then here is the Fall Leaf project we did, we finished both projects in a one hour co-op class.
I loved letting my kids explore with chalk pastels. I think that most of them had not used them before!
Warning: they are MESSY.
But they are worth it. 🙂 The chalk pastels blend and smear so much more than the oil pastels. They are both very different mediums! I hope you will let your kids explore with BOTH.
