If I’m honest, the last few months fear has crept into my heart like never before. If I’m not intentionally fixing my eyes on Jesus, it will take over. And sometimes it does. But, I was reminded (again) that my Heavenly Father knew before the foundation of the earth what would be happening in our world in 2015. He is sovereign. He’s got the whole world in His hands.
My job is to not worry, but trust. Every day to trust. More and more. Our Heavenly Father knows what we need. (Matt. 6:32) and what does he tell us to do instead of worry?? SEEK FIRST God and His kingdom. Seek Him first. Before trying to fix things on our own, before seeking others who can fix or make things better, SEEK HIM. What does this look like practically in your life? For me, I’m learning (ever so slowly) to take thoughts of worry and fear captive to Christ. When I realize I’m worrying, start praying instead. Listing things I’m thankful for. Spending time in God’s Word. Memorizing it. Praying the Scriptures.
Turning around my thoughts has been one of the biggest battles of my life. Different seasons have been different thought patterns: the negative, the criticism, the fear…but in every season I must learn to SEEK FIRST the kingdom of God. (Matthew 6:33) Jesus is worth it. And when I truly fix my eyes on Him He fills me with His peace. (Isaiah 26:3) Because He really does have the whole world in His hands. I believe it. I trust Him.
