Why it is so easy for us to look around and see God doing amazing things in others? But when we look at our own lives we don’t see the things God is doing? Why do we let comparison become such a trap in our hearts when, as believers, we know we are fearfully and wonderfully made? I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s just plain hard to believe.
Yet, God’s Word is full of the reminders that God is doing a NEW thing.
We are given NEW life in Christ.
NEW mercies, every morning
a NEW covenant in Jesus
a NEW gospel of repentance
we walk in NEWNESS of life
I am a NEW creation
the Spirit gives NEW life
a NEW commandment: love
a NEW song
a NEW home
Do we believe God’s Word to be TRUTH? Dig deep, friends. Do we believe Him or do we not?
Sometimes it does our hearts good to slow down, stop and repeat truth to ourselves. To remind our hearts that God is sovereign. To remind ourselves that if we believe God is about making things NEW, then that means ME, TOO!!
Sometimes we look around and see all these wonderful things others are doing and we forget to take a moment and LOOK AT GOD and what HE is doing.
When we look to God we can be thankful for how He is working in others without envy.
We must fix our eyes on JESUS, not what He is doing in others. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we become grateful for how He uses others uniquely because we realize that He is using us in unique ways as well. There is no reason for comparison, we are right where we need to be. Be still and know Him.
Sweet friends, He is at work in me and you.
“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
He has promised to complete what He started in us. (Phil. 1:6)
