God is God and I am not,
I can only see a part of the picture He’s painting
God is God and I am man
So, I’ll never understand it all, for only God is God”
Steven Curtis Chapman
Scripture
“From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.” Isaiah 64:4
In the Waiting
Sometimes in the waiting we need to be reminded that we aren’t God and we aren’t supposed to have all the answers. Ouch. I know, it stings. We knows this in our heads, but in our hearts we still feel an urgency to know what is going to happen in our desperate situations.
If you will shift your perspective a bit, the realization that we don’t understand actually can bring hope and peace. You see, in His goodness, the Lord knows we can’t handle the weight of the truth. The Lord knows if we knew all the details or if we saw the whole picture or if we saw into the future we would despair.
The Lord gives us our portion each day. We sit in quietness and trust and wait on Him. We trust Him. And in that place of trust, we learn that He has all things in His Hands, including us. We can let go of our tightly clenched fists when our trust for the Lord grows. When we believe that our Heavenly Father loves us unconditionally, when we know He has a good plan for our lives, when we believe that He gives us what we need, at that point do we really begin to learn the peace that comes from trusting and waiting on the Lord. Only the Lord.
Prayer
Oh Lord, increase my faith. No eye has seen nor ear heard what You can do. You act on behalf of those who wait on You. So we wait. On You. We praise You for the mercy you’ve shown us by not allowing us to see the whole big picture. Lord, someday we will see You face to face and on that day, You will wipe every tear from our eyes and our faith will be made sight. Until then, Lord, I wait on You. Grow my faith and trust in You.
