Scripture
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:1-2
In the Waiting
When we know and believe – really believe – that the Lord is our shepherd, we trust that He has our best in mind.
What does a shepherd do? The shepherd guides, corrects, protects, rescues, feeds, provides for and more. Have you truly pondered what it means for the Lord to be your shepherd? He guides you, He corrects you, He protects you, He rescues you, He feeds you, He provides for you. He truly gives you all you need, He leads you beside quiet waters, He restores you.
When we know, with every ounce of our being that we are His and He is our shepherd, we trust that waiting on Him is good.
Prayer
Lord, You are my shepherd, I am content in You. You make me lie down in green pastures. You lead me beside still waters. You restore my soul. You lead me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your house forever. Lord God, You are my shepherd, I have no need of anything. I trust You completely and I wait on You.
